In these final hours of 2012 I want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year. I can't wait to see where 2013 will take me.

Perhaps it's the gelato I had this afternoon or the bellinis I've been making at home, but my Italy trip from 2005 has been on my mind. I'm getting ready to open my own Etsy store and the first things that will go in it will be some photos from that trip.

I'm thinking it might be fun to do themed weeks. It was never my intention to do this, but I kind of like how last week morphed into a week about babies and children.

This week, I'm thinking Converse. (It's my thing.)

Of course I reserve the right to change my mind at any time.

So I have made it back from sunny Florida. Between the sessions I did down there and of course Teresa and Richard's wedding, I have so many photos to share. Hang in there with me folks I'll get some up soon.

The Campbell House

On New Year's Eve I packed up the car and headed out to St. Louis to visit one of my best friends. She lives in downtown St. Louis not too far from the Gateway Arch. In fact, she lives at the Campbell House Museum above the carriage house and gives tours for the museum on the weekends. On one of her tour days she let me walk around and photograph.

The house was built in the 1800's and for the most part owned my the Campbell family. What makes it special is that it retains 80%- 90% of the family's original contents. The furnishings are straight up Victorian opulence. I was actually taken back by all the grandeur.

The museum has staged the house so well, that as you walk through it, you feel as if you've stepped back in time and you half expect to bump into a man in a top hat and waist coat as you pass down the hall.

Fall Photos

I've always suggested the Lexington Cemetery to clients as a location for photographs. When I worked for another studio, I can remember talking to a lady on the phone. She said, in a thick country accent, "Y'all take pictures in a graveyard?" I had a hard time convincing her that it was a really beautiful place especially during the spring.

So, a couple weeks ago my mom came to visit and she said "Can we take a drive through the cemetery? It was so pretty in the spring I want to see what it was looks like in fall." I reluctantly agreed. I've never thought to go there in fall.

I was blown away by the pallet of colors. I'm so glad my mom suggested it, and luckily I had my camera with me.

The following weekend some friends and I traveled down Loraine, KY to visit the Maker's Mark Distillery. Nestled down in a little valley, Makers Mark loaded with classic Kentucky imagery.

We took the distillery tour, did a bourbon tasting and even dipped our own bottle. It was an awesome field trip on a dreary, rainy day.
