WELCOME!

Thank you for taking the time to check out my little photography site. I have been a photographer for years, but now I find myself working in a library. It sounds strange, yes, but what I am doing is helping create digital archives. Makes more sense now. Right? On this site I'll share with you images, and stories about the people, places and memories that go along with these images. I hope you enjoy the time you spend here.

| Terri + Rick | weddings |

I am just squeaking in this post before my self-imposed August Break, but I had to share a few more photos from Terri and Rick's wedding in upstate New York.

I first met Terri way back in college. My first impression of her, is that she is the type of person that is always going to greet you with a great smile, a big hug, and probably a freshly baked cookie. (The girl can bake like no body's business.) Then once you get to know her, you realize that you're no longer just a friend. You are family. You'll not meet a more nurturing person in the world. They're just not out there.

It's been a few years since I'd actually seen Terri. So I was super excited when I got an email from her telling me that she was getting married. And she wanted me to photograph it! Now that's some love if a friend that lives over 600 miles away wants you to photograph her wedding.

So on a warm Saturday in June I found myself in upstate New York, ready to capture a very special day for an old friend.

The wedding took place at The Barn at Hillsprings Farm, just outside Corning, New York. At one time it was an actual working dairy farm that has recently been converted to hold events such as this. Nestled up on a hill amongst the surrounding fields, the barn provided a perfect country location.

I've always known Terri and her family to be very outdoorsy-type folks. They hunt, and they fish. Terri and Rick themselves, are in the process of fixing up an old country, farmhouse that they call home. So it came at no surprise to me when I saw all little rustic touches incorporated into the details of her wedding.

I had to smile when I heard the florist say "I've never used pine cones as boutonnieres before." But here's the thing. It all completely worked. I just want to know where they found those camo-inspired vests for the guys.

Terri was gorgeous as she usually is. And, if she wasn't my friend, I think I'd have to hate her. ☺ Seriously, I've never seen her so happy. This little series with her and her mom are some of my favorite shots of the entire day.

Before we go too much further, I have to send out a big THANK YOU to my buddy, Kosta Tovstiadi, agreeing to tag along as my road trip partner and second shooter for the weekend. He did an amazing job helping me out, allowing me a few minutes here and there to try visit and catch up with old friends at the reception. (By the way, I'm also a little jealous of his fish-eye lens for these two shots.)

Remember when I said Terri can bake up a storm? The girl baked dozens and dozens and dozens of cookies to have as appetizers at the reception. And, let me tell you...they were scrumptious! In my most recent email from Terri, she told me she's thinking of starting up a home-based baking business, mostly cookies and cheesecakes. Oh....I have dreams about her cheesecake. I say "Go for it girl!!!!!!"

So one of the sweetest moments happened during Rick and Terri's first dance. He quietly sang to her as they danced. Awe...

Then during the traditional Father/Daughter dance. Rick danced with Terri's mom. I don't know why, but I love this shot of the two couples dancing.

Before I let you see the last image. I have a confession to make. I love silhouette shots. This is a recent realization of mine. But in looking over my photographs I find that I usually manage to sneak one or two in there. Sometimes I feel like people find them cheesy or cliche`, but I sometimes like cheesy and cliche`. I'm sorry. When I saw that pretty pink sunset in the background. I just couldn't help myself.

Congratulations Terri and Rick! I wish all the happiness.

On the Horizon

So, tomorrow is the first of August and I still can't figure out where the time is going. In my mind it should be somewhere closer to say...March. How does this happen? I've been told to get used to it, and that it only gets worse. (sigh....)

Sometime today (or more likely tonight) I'll be posting some more images from Terri and Rick's lovely wedding. They need to go up today because tomorrow starts my August Break.

What's that? Well, I recently did a post on it over on my personal blog if you want to read more about it. But, basically, I'm using this concept as a time to finally get some images old and new on this blog for you all to check out. Call it, Trying to make up for lost time.

At the same time I'm hoping to try to make some design changes to this blog. I've been dissatisfied with it for a while now. It's time to make some changes, and I've recently discovered some tools to help me do that. So just letting you know things might look a little different the next time you stop by. Please let me know what you think.

By the way have you noticed the "Share it " buttons located at the end of each post? Now if there is something you like and want to share it on Facebook or email it to a friend, it's super easy for you to do.

Okay so, that's what is on the horizon for August, and just because I think posts without pictures are boring. Here's another sneak peek from Terri and Rick's wedding.
