WELCOME!

Thank you for taking the time to check out my little photography site. I have been a photographer for years, but now I find myself working in a library. It sounds strange, yes, but what I am doing is helping create digital archives. Makes more sense now. Right? On this site I'll share with you images, and stories about the people, places and memories that go along with these images. I hope you enjoy the time you spend here.

Laying Low

Today I thought to myself, "I need to post to my blog". So when I logged in I was appalled that it has been 3 weeks since my last posting. Simply shameful. There is no excuse for it.

I will say that I have been uploading more photos on Facebook, but that does not make up for the fact that I've been neglecting the blog. Some of the photos still need to be blogged but if you can't wait for me to do that you can always go ahead and check them out here. You do not need to join Facebook to do so.

Perhaps why I've been so quiet on the blog-front lately is the fact that I'm in a funk. The roots of this funk are deep seated and I know you really don't want to hear about me and my issues. So I thought today I'd talk about something a little more inspirational.

When I was studying art/photography here at UK I had the privilege to be in school with some pretty awesome people. I learned as much from my fellow students as I did the instructors. There were some amazing artists and photographers, and many have gone on to do great things.

One of these amazing folks is Jahi Chikwendiu. I remember him from the old Photo Lab days and we shared several mutual friends. Today, he works for The Washington Post, and has won numerous awards, including the White House News Photographer Association - Photographer of the year in 2008.

A few weeks ago, Jahi came to give a talk as part of Robert C. May Photography Lecture Series. It was refreshing to see that he still has that exuberant spirit that I remembered from college days. He also sat down and did an interview for WUKY's Tonic.

Listen to the interview, and hopefully you'll find a little inspiration in it. I have, even when I'm in a funk.

Just Jump. (Listen to the interview. You'll know what it means.)
